Content reporting & takedown
BeRef lets a founder publish proof assets and references they create. Some of that content can mention or involve other people or companies. If you believe content shared through BeRef is illegal, infringes your rights, is fake or misleading, or was published without the consent it claims, you can report it and we will act. This page explains how — our notice-and-action procedure under the EU Digital Services Act (Art.16) and our DMCA takedown process.
How to report
Email beref@beref.tech with the subject "Content report" and include:
- The link to the page or asset (the
/p/…or/r/…share URL, or a screenshot). - What is wrong — illegal content, IP/copyright infringement, a fake/misleading claim, or a consent/privacy issue — and a short explanation.
- Your name and contact details, and (for IP claims) confirmation you are the rights holder or authorised to act.
- A statement that the information in your report is accurate, made in good faith. Knowingly false reports may carry liability.
What we do
We acknowledge reports promptly and aim to review within 72 hours. Where a report is justified we will remove, unpublish, or disable access to the content, and notify the founder who published it of the action and the reason, so they can respond or appeal. Urgent illegal content (for example a clear privacy or safety breach) is actioned faster. Consent-related issues are also resolved directly through the Consent Engine, where the person who gave a reference can withdraw it in one click and it is unpublished everywhere immediately (GDPR Art.17).
DMCA — copyright
For copyright specifically, a valid DMCA notice should identify the copyrighted work, the infringing material and its URL, your contact details, a good-faith statement that the use is unauthorised, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorised to act. We process valid notices and counter-notices under the DMCA and forward them to the uploader.
Repeat infringers
Accounts that repeatedly publish illegal or infringing content may be suspended or terminated.
